The Road to Emotional and Behavioral Change in Foster and Adopted Children

This book shows how to work successfully with emotional and behavioral problems rooted in deficient early attachments and intrafamilial trauma.  Dan maps out a treatment plan designed to help the child begin to experience and accept from both the therapist and the parents, the safety and affective attunement that he or she should have received in the first few years of life. (1997)
Awakening Love in Deeply Troubled Children

The book describes in great detail the composite figures of the child, Katie, Alison who diagnoses and treats her severe problems due to trauma and disorganized attachment patterns, and Jackie, the therapeutic foster parent who creates safety and a new awareness of self for Katie following her years of abuse and unsuccessful earlier foster placements.  Specific parenting and treatment interventions are clearly presented. (2006)

Attachment-Focused Family Therapy
